Does It Get Any Better Than This? Birthday Weekend at J W Marriot Marquis Dubai
Updated: Dec 5, 2019
Nothing better than celebrating a birthday at one of my favorite travel destinations. I happened to travel to Dubai for my birthday weekend and I booked my stay at J W Marriot Marquis Dubai. Trust me when I say this, I did not regret this decision.
The hotel is located on Sheikh Zayed Road and is at a distance of 13 km from Dubai International Airport. It was easy and convenient to reach the hotel. It is at a distance of 4 km from Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall. If you are in Dubai to spend your time(and money) at the mall, this is the best hotel for you. Further, it is only 10 km from The Walk and Atlantis The Palm. One can easily get a taxi the minute you step out of the hotel.
The entrance lobby remains busy most part of the day but the friendly staff will immediately guide you to the checkin area. There is not enough space to sit in the checkin area. I checked in at the hotel at 10:30 PM and the checkin process was quick and hassle free. The lobby looked stunning with flowers and the right lighting. It looked equally beautiful during the day.
I was instantly helped by a friendly checkin agent who happily took my request for a room at a higher floor. The check in process was convenient with several checkin counters and it did not take more than 15 minutes to get it done. There are two towers of the hotel- A and B. I was accommodated in Tower A. The hotel has 73 stories and 1600 rooms.
My room was on the 54th floor. Entrance to the carpeted room is through a short passage that has two single cupboards, between which is a luggage rack. The room was gracefully furnished with ample amount of space and a large mirrored wall right opposite the bed. There were outlets and USB ports on both sides of the bed. There were two sofas and a coffee table on the side and a study table opposite the bed. The sound proof window gave an exceptional view of the skyline at night. The room had a locker facility, a minibar, television, ironing board, coffee maker and air conditioner.
The bathroom was as massive as the room. It had white marble sinks and counters and was stocked with amenities. There was a large bathtub, massive mirror and a separate shower cabin and toilet. The bathroom was large enough to walk around comfortably.

What more can one ask for when there are 10 restaurant options for you to choose from? The hotel possibly has every cuisine available. I had a free breakfast with my stay and the spread was so extensive that even after walking around for about ten minutes, I missed a good half of the options. The hotel takes, "Breakfast like a king", quite literally. Right from the made to order egg station to South Indian delicacies, there is everything you can think of having for your breakfast. The breakfast was served in the gorgeous ball room.
Coming back to the restaurant options, here are all of them.

The service throughout our entire stay was top-notch, and despite this being a larger hotel, the same employees remembered details of my birthday(I had mentioned at the time of checkin) and made it special by sending a delicious cake to my room. The entire staff at the hotel is extremely friendly, helpful and courteous.
Never in my life have I struggled so hard to come up with something negative to say about a hotel. The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is a stunning property with delicious and memorable food, and what’s more, they took incredible care during my short stay. I know that when I come back to Dubai, this is where I want to stay again.
J W Marriot Marquis is an ideal hotel for business and leisure. You can easily spend an entire weekend here with the number of restaurants and activities available for you.
