Live like royalty at Brys Fort, Jaisalmer

Updated: Feb 22, 2019

Brys Fort is where traditional meets modern.

For my second hotel review, I headed to the golden city of Rajasthan-Jaisalmer. My stay was at Brys Fort which is a fort property and is everything you can expect-royal and grand. Tucked away from the city, it offers complete privacy and peace. The property is huge and has a grand entrance. With limited number of luxury accommodation options, this property stands out amongst others. The minute you step in, you will feel like royalty. Rajasthan is known for the forts and rich history and this property in Jaisalmer will literally take you back in time.

The hotel has 80 spacious rooms and 10 tents. The tents are usually operational during Winters. Out of the 80 rooms, a few are club rooms which are equipped with a swimming pool. All the rooms are equipped with a television, air conditioner, a dressing area and WiFi. Since you are here on a leisure trip, I would advice you to hit the pool. The pool area is the best public space in the hotel. There is a children’s play area, a spa and a barbeque counter adjacent to the pool.

The budget hotel is located at a distance of 10 minutes from the city and has a stunning view of the fort at night. Its public spaces combine traditional and modern with furniture that will take you back to the royal era. There are a number of lobbies for you to stroll through and it has a three tier garden. There is a restaurant, a bar and beautifully done up terrace. There are traditional lanes you can walk through to reach different parts of the property. The architecture of the property will remind you of Bollywood movies and take you back into royalty. The lawn is huge which has made it a hit for events and occasions. Enjoy star gazing from the terrace of the hotel and soak in the stunning view of the city by the night.

Jaisalmer is a small city which means you will have limited choices when it comes to food and beverages. When it comes to the property, everything is in place, but the service and food require a lot of improvement. There were only a few items on the menu which were available at the time. The buffet breakfast had the same menu for both the days. Do not keep high expectations with regard to food and beverages here. The staff will ensure that they serve you the best from whatever is available to them. Since it was an off season, the tents were closed and the bar was not operational. The mini bar was empty and they had no stock of hard and soft drinks at the restaurant either. The cost of food is average and so is the quality. The staff lacks finesse and the service is slow.

Overall, my experience was average. I was disappointed by the service and the quality of food. If you are headed to Jaisalmer and looking for privacy and want a fort experience, choose Brys Fort for its location. It is close to the city, yet far enough to provide privacy and peace.
